Dear Nate: One thing you didn't mention in your review of COBRA (1986): That screenplay MAULED a nice, understated, in places tongue in cheek thriller, Paula Gosling's Fair Game, published in England as A Running Duck. In the book, the heroine is being stalked by a mafia hitman, because she can I.D. him. How on EARTH could any screenwriter pass up scenes in which the heroine is badly injured by a bomb in her refrigerator-her fiance is killed-then taken to the hospital, then removed from the hospital to a safe house? How does the detective get her safely to the safe house? They dress as nuns. |

Yes, well. Didn't mention it for a very technical reason: I hadn't read the book. But now that I know that there are nun disguises, I'll put it at the top of my list.

Answer: the world in 1986 wasn't ready to see Stallone dressed up in a habit. It still isn't ready. It may never be ready. |
