Since Bob Denver has run aground on that great unchartered isle in the sky, let's pay tribute by naming our favorite episode of Gilligan's Island. If I may...

I like the one where some radioactive seeds wash ashore and the spinach gives Gilligan super strength, the carrots give Mary Ann incredible eyesight, and the sugar beets put Mrs. Howell on a far out energy rush. ha ha True comedy at its best...

She was bred in old Kentucky, but she's just a crumb up here.

The ghost episode. I love the decoys they built of themselves to test if the boat was safe.

The thing I remember most about "Gilligan's Island" is the audacious evil-twin trifecta - Gilligan's evil Russian spy twin that spoke through a spoon, Thurston Howell's evil imposter twin that tried to take over his company, and Ginger's evil mousy librarian twin that usurped her smouldering sexuality. There was even a pseudo-evil twin story line that featured one of Lovey's high society rivals washing up on the beach.

Responding to this thread forces me to admit that I've actually seen some episodes of "Gilligan's Island," doesn't it?

Anyway, whatever story it was where they wound up doing a musical version of "Hamlet" set to music from "Carmen." "Neither a borrower nor a lender be" sung to "The Toreador Song" was truly surreal. Or these lyrics, sung to another melody from the same opera. (It's a very famous melody, but I have no idea what it's called.)

I ask to be
Or not to be
That is the question that I ask of me

Reality is a crutch for people who can't face up to science fiction.

I'd second a vote for the Musical Hamlet version.

I also have a fond memory of the one with the Mosquitoes (Bingo, Bango, Bongo and Irving).

The one were Skipper was seriously creeped out by that Tiki statue also managed to creep me out as well.

(No point in asking what age I was then, is there?)

These two eppies are my faves as well.

I also liked the one where it turns out that Sawyer isn't really Sawyer, he took the name because...

Oh, wait... ;)

I liked the one where they had a chance to get off the island, but Gilligan screwed things up for them and the others mysteriously didn't crush his head under a rock.

Needless to say, most folks who had a "favorite" episode probably enjoyed it as a kid. For me, that's the big difference between "Gilligan's Island" and "Three's Company". By the time "Three's Company" came around, I had outgrown completely silly\childish TV comedy. Not to mention the fact that "Gilligan's Island" was more imaginative with better storylines (how sad is that?)

So true. What is funny is watching "Three's Company" reruns today is nothing short of painful. There is nothing memorable or amusing at all because it seems so dated. But I can still view a "Gilligan's Island" episode and get quite a few enjoyable chucks out of it.
