Oh boy, I just saw the poster for Alien VS Hunter, and on their site there's a Universal Soldier ripoff called Universal Soldiers. How come Asylum hasn't been sued yet?
I haven't seen any of their movies yet, but I'm feeling the call of nature. |

Does anyone get the feeling that DiSalvatore actually read the review? I don't.
He doesn't strike me as the type that would sit down and read some text. My feeling is that he read the captions under the pictures and left it at that.

I got another email from the guy letting me know he was sending me a Black Cougar action figure. I think the guy was just thrilled that someone, anyone, reviewed his movie. Seriously, find another Black Cougar review online. Good luck with that. I'd have figured I'd hardly be the first after that appearance on American Inventor, but no.

An interesting tidbit I got from an Asylum employee who emailed me after stumbling upon my ALIEN VS. HUNTER article:
"An interesting bit of info I got from an employee inside The Asylum I've exchanged emails with:
"...these movies are completely rewritten while they're being shot (or, in the case of 30,000 LEAGUES and ALIEN VS HUNTER, they didn't shoot 20 pages of the script) and have to be "frankensteined" in post to make something that resembles a coherent movie. The final cut of 30,000 was NOTHING like what was on the page; there were 5 scenes (8 min. worth) of stuff cut and plotlines completely lost - not to mention half the plot was rewritten in off-screen dialogue. Editors are then required to produce the first cut of the movie two days after they even get the footage."
He told me some amazing stories about the chaos behind the scenes making AVH, a film more than one Asylum person has told me will be not only the worst Asylum film ever, but one of the worst movies ever made - period! That's a bold sentiment, but after reading what the guy wrote about the hack director I'm tempted to believe him. I'm planning to post some of that stuff when it finally comes time for me to review that particular film. In the meantime, you can enjoy these two reviews of the films I've previously pegged as their absolute worst: HILLSIDE CANNIBALS (a Hills Have Eyes rip-off so terrible even the director is embarrassed by it) and SUPERCROC (a giant monster movie from the diretor of AHV, probably explaining why the monster does nothing).

Holy crap! That behind the scenes chaos story is amazing. It's even better than an Albert Pyun interview I once read. You know, I used to hate the guy, but after he explained how he worked (Ticker took about a week to be filmed and Dennis Hopper shot all his scenes in one day) I was shocked.
I think I won't need to watch Universal Soldiers anymore, thanks for that. |

Seek out the story about his involvement in the making of MAX HAVOC: CURSE OF THE DRAGON and you'll probably go back to just hating him again. The producer was the primary bad guy in that scam but it's obvious that Pyun played his part.
