Starring Sienna Miller as Maria and Paul Walker as Freder. Akiva Goldsman and Joel Schumacher are re-teaming for this one.
Just kidding. Hey, don't curse me. Now you'll look at the bright side of every creative decision that makes its way to the media. |

The theme of "the very poor and the very rich" is being touted today by certain polititions. The movie people may put their hearts and souls into it to send America "a message". A labor of love, so to speak.

That and tons of CGI. Unless the new studio has greenlighted massive settings and hiring 37,000 extras*, that is.
* The IMDB is so useful sometimes. |

Hmm, a CGI-infested big budget production of old school Soviet agit-prop.
Yeah, sign me up for that.
So what we're basically getting is all of George Romero's stirring social commentary from Land of the Dead, except with no zombies?
I'll pass... |

Good grief. I swear sometimes some of you on this board sound like you're trying to be parodies of the far right.

On the surface, I don't see this as a bad idea in itself. That movie is certainly old enough, and has had so few direct remakes (that I know of), that it's well past time someone gave it a good redoing. Actually, I'm just surprised that it wasn't done years ago.
The only real problem is in the adjective "good" above. Considering how mediocre most of the remakes Hollywood has pumped out recently have been, I have very little hope that they'd do any better here. I truly fear that it will be just another cgi action-fest that's had all the soul sucked out of it. |

| I just saw "The Invasion". To think that this one could end up as bad as that one... |
