At least they are not trying to pull a G.I. Joe on us and calling it the Justice League of United Nations.
I'm glad they had the forsight to include a Super Model in the cast. What could possibly go wrong?

From what I saw, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm aren't gonna have anything to do with this thing, right?
I smells a disaster in the making. |

| Who the heck is this Common (?!) guy they got to play the Green Lantern? Is he really famous enough to require only one name? |

He's a rapper. Yeah, they picked a rapper to play the Green Lantern, because apparently there are no professional black actors available.
You know Grand Funk, don't you? The wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The ... adequate drumwork of Don Brewer? |

The smell of Jabootu is strong with this one.

I've started to notice a trend with movies and maybe it's just me. There are a definite raft of black films that are mainly targeted at black audiences. There always have been some, but the trend is towards more. On the other hand, more of the "mainstream" films have either fewer and less consequential black characters or they, as in this case, hire a rapper. Is the sense of Hollywood that in general blacks don't care for the types of films of that whites like and therefore it makes more sense just to market films for blacks and not worry as much about casting blacks for films that don't interest the general black populace?

Not sure. I've always wondered at the wisdom of making movies targeted for basically only 12% of the American population, a lesser percentage of which will likely even pay to watch the movie at all.
Of course, capitalism being what it is, I suppose if such a move wasn't profitable it wouldn't be made. |

| Yeah, but we're talking about Hollywood here. I don't quite see them as using informed judgement to replace ego and self-interest. |

Most of the ones made though are either comedies (seemingly half use Martin Lawrence) or dramas. Those types are fairly cheap to make especially when you're using cheap talent.
