| With the onset of compact disks and MP3 downloads the art of the album cover has been lost. These huge often dramatic pictures used to be as much a part of the music as the music itself. Just check out Connie Smith's photo on the cover of "Miss Smith Goes to Nashville". A prettier sight I have never seen. The photo and the music just go together. I miss them dearly, even these god awful truly disturbing ones. |

Hmmm, #66, THE COOPER FAMILY: I'm God's Child -- I'm sure God is thinking: " ... I didn't want anybody to know that!!!"
I've seen this site (or a similar one) before; Many of the covers are familiar, but others I've not seen before. Is this continually updated or something?
Some of these (like the Handsome Beasts), must be purposely bad or attempts to offend.
I think these prove that not just anybody can wear jumpsuits (and those vaguely "heroic" or "futuristic") without looking completely ridiculous. Clown make-up just looks very disturbing (Grease paint: The Serial Killer's Friend).

I refuse to accept that this ever existed.
And with a title like that, I'm trying not to imagine what is going on behind that chair. You could never get away with marketing this sort of thing today.
But like a moth to a flame, or a Jabootuite to a bad movie, I find myself morbidly interested in hearing just how bad all these albums were.

#11 made me laugh. It just looks unintentionally goofy. Awesome!
I don't see what's so bad about Animal Magnetism's cover, though. Maybe it's the dog. **shrug** Or maybe I'm biased, because it's one of my favorite albums. |

As a Sabbath fan I may be biased, but there's no way Black Sabbath's Sabotage should be rated higher than some of those other covers.

It's probably Bill Wards red tights that make it score so high.

The Onion AV Club just did a feature on bad album covers, though I believe they restricted the focus to Prog Rock.

Thanks, that mad me laugh.
I think the albums are grouped by genre, not the absurdity of the cover. |

And they didn't come close to delving the depths of silliness that a true prog nerd would have seen. They were strictly doing mainstream stuff. It's the equivalent of someone saying "That Ed Wood sure was the worst director of all time, eh?" around here.

I don't think the numbers represent rank.
