It really looks like a straight-to-DVD movie. Other than the brand name there's absolutely nothing in that trailer that makes you want to see it. Really a terrible trailer when it comes right down to it.
The prospects of a new X-Files movie would be a lot more enticing if it hadn't been for the last three or seasons of the show pretty much killing the viability of the franchise. How passe indeed.

And Mackey would have planted evidence showing UFO's existed.
Thereby defeating any government men-in-black agents who always seemed to snatch it by the end of the episode.

I never watched much of X-Files, but from the fans I know and the internet, I gather that the supernatural stuff is part of (scary music sting) a secret all-powerfull conspiracy group that is working to thwart M+S's efforts. Well, if that's so, and if the "SA-PCG" can manipulate the US government, why don't they just disband the X-Files department? They could say it's for budget reasons, or they could give no reason at all, that happens all the time in governments in the real world.
This is something that killed that other conspiracy show, "Dark Skies"; they were so into the Conspiracies! that it fell into a tangled mess before being mercifully cancled.
PS: I would liike to add the word Conspiracy! to the Jabootu glossery. It means "an evil plot (Usally by a secretative group) that exhists only for the sake of messing with the lives of the stars or innocent characters". For an example, see "Capricorn One".

They did Greenhornet.
Several times. In one instance, they burned the place down. But they always found a excuse to bring it back from the brink.
What can I say? Mulder and Scully rival the Energizer Bunny.
And speaking of Capricorn One, I'll bet you didn't know that NASA had the ability to order assassinations. I wonder when Tom Hanks will do a series based on that part of NASA's charter?
