| If you're religious, say a prayer for us on or near the Gulf Coast this week. If you're not religious... be a pal and make an exception, just in case. Gustav has me a little nervous. I'm about a hundred fifty miles inland, and not directly in its path, so it'll probably just hit us a glancing blow, but still. (And lest we forget, there will be plenty of people in Gus's sights; keep them in your thoughts.) |

From what I see on the news, the prayers worked this time. They mention 7 dead, 800,000 homes without electricity, and other damages, but looks like Gustav was too weakened to cause the ammounts of destruction Katrina did three years ago and the dikes in New Orleans are holding.
Let's hope it causes no more victims. |

Well, right now we're getting plenty of rain, and we've had minor damage. It could have been much, much worse.
Of course, we do have Hanna, Ike, and Josephine to worry about, but here's hopin'. The prayers seem to have worked so far, and thanks to all. |

We dodged a bullet with Gustav. It was pretty rough in Louisiana, but no one can deny that it might have been much, much worse.
Right now, it looks like it may be similar with Ike, at least for the US. Keep those in the hurricane warning areas in your thoughts and prayers, as well as those who got the full brunt of it last week. |
