It would look like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAvcsqJN34Q
SEE! An overload of earnestness HEAR! Hackneyed voice over REVEL! In the unintentional racism WONDER! At who ponied up the money for the film GAP IN MOTHERFLIPPING AWE! At...
Proud American (a film about freedom, opportunity, and responsibility).

Maybe it's just me but if you're making a movie that's supposed to be celebrating all that's great about the United States of America perhaps three out of your five stories shouldn't be built around minorities being the victim of prejudice. I mean that second story... The heart-warming tale of a young Asian woman smuggled into the country who triumphed against American racial prejudice to earn a college degree. God bless America! Something is slighlty skewered there given the overall message of the film.
The phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" also sprung to mind as I watched that trailer. Though I will say it still looks more entertaining than AMERICAN CAROL.

Really, I don't see the Billy Jack comparison, unless we're just comparing levels of didacticism. These don't seem to be stories about how America's all wrong, you know, like, and THE MAN is keeping us down, you know, for MONEY.

I am assuming the pitch went something like:
"I want to make a movie about how great it is to be an American. We simply CANNOT make this film without the guy who played Jimmy Olsen in the original 'Superman', the guy who played Principal Beldin in 'Saved by the Bell', and especially, Grant Goodeve from 'Eight is Enough'"
The movie looks neither good nor bad to me, but my guess is that it's a bit treacly. |

I don't really see the Billy Jack comparison either. I'd say a better comparison would be to that of a jingoistic ABC Afterschool Special. This film clearly suffers from a distinct lack of Scott Baio.

"This film clearly suffers from a distinct lack of Scott Baio."
Well, c'mon, you can say that about just about ANY movie. The Third Man, for instance, or To Kill A Mockingbird. And even the rest you'd have to say something like "Zapped suffers from a severe underutilization of Scott Baio."
PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court? HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

Just posted my new Foyeurism featuring a full dissemination of PROUD AMERICAN, quite possibly the world's first feature length public service announcement. And who is the proudest American of all? PROUD AMERICAN ends with a very special thank you to "a true American patriot who lent his inspiration and support when no one else would listen". That great American: H. Ross Perot.
Icrywolf, there is a modern Billy Jack that just came out. It's called Noise. Stars Tim Robbins as a mild-mannered New Yorker driven so mad by noise pollution in New York City that he declares a jihad against car alarms and the such going around smashing car windows and committing all manner of vandalism to make a point. It's the third movie I review in this month's Foyeurism.

Foy, I just read your reviews and I have to say that I had the same impression of "Reoud american" just from the trailers.
One minor complaint, though; you kept saying "jimgoistic" throughout your reviews. I have to point out that "jingoism" is the American version of imperialism/colonialism and is diffrent from patriotism. A hundred years ago, several prominent Americans (Even T Roosevelt) openly called themselves "jingoists".
Colonialism is dead. Except for the muslims and the (new) USSR.

Might want to let Dictionary.com know they got their definition wrong then.

Doesn't "neo-colonialism" kind of describe the anti-international trade paranoia?
Foy I'm just annoyed that whenever an AMERICAN shows the slightest bit of patriotism, it's denounced as "jingoism" and "ugly Americanism" while any show of national pride by anti-American countries such as China, Cuba, Russia, ect, it's praised. I'm old and tired of crap from certain political elements. (I'm not pointing the finger at anyone. I don't have to)

It may have become a bag-term of sorts for all those things too, but it does exist. First world countries don't have African colonies anymore, but they do extert a firm control of African economy.
Take my own country, Spain. We were a lesser colonial power in Africa, but we still have close economical links with former colony Ecuatorial Guinea and its resources. We also endorse Teodore Obiang's dictatorial regime, to the extreme of sending in our Navy in 2004 when there were rumours of a coup against Obiang. And yes, you guessed, there's oil in Ecuatorial Guinea.
And I guess you've already heard of blood diamonds and coltan. |

H. Ross Perot is the Bizarro World Tom Laughlin.
