One of the founders of the popular band Pink Floyd, Richard Wright has died from cancer at 64. For those who love great inventive rock and roll it is truly a sad day.

Yes, this is sad news. He was simply overshadowed by the other huge egos in the band, but that probably suited him fine. He was an innovator, a tasteful player, contributed some fine writing and vocals on occasion and certainly a major part of the classic "Floyd" sound that cannot be replaced.

His songs on the early albums are great. They're melodic, light hearted and completely different than the angsty Roger Water's stuff the band eventually became famous for.
