Some of my choices:
28 Days Later Shaun of the Dead Dawn of the Dead (either or both) The Others The Haunting (original) The Thing From Another World The Ring The Hound of the Baskervilles (with Basil Rathbone)
Also: old episodes of Kolchak, Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors I-X (roughly), the Halloween episode from Moonlighting (3rd season).
One on my wish list: Island of Terror with Peter Cushing. Don't have it, but that movie scared the bejeezus out of me.
Your picks? |

The Cat People (original) truly creepy and scary and surprisingly sexy.
Susperia: Argento at his scariest best
The Birds: Hitchcock's brilliant foray into sci fi horror is a bone chilling winner
Nosferatu the expressionist original with Max Schreck
The Cabinate of Dr. Caligari the expressionist origional |

THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE THE HAUNTING (original) THE NIGHT STALKER THE WOLFMAN FRANKENSTEIN (Karloff) THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (original) IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN (I do watch this every Halloween) THE BLACK CAT (got to have some lugosi here)
I'd suggest THE PAUL LYNDE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL, but that's just too darn horrifying. |

Yay! Halloween is on a friday this year, which means I get to watch more than one show that night (I'm ordinarily up at 5 am during the week, so watching creepiness until the wee hours is a no-go). This year I'm in an old school zombie sort of mood, so my lineup so far includes:
I Walked With a Zombie and The Last Man on Earth if there's time, or I'm not too tired, I'll also be checking out The Body Snatcher because it is on the same disc with I Walked With a Zombie.
But before that I've got some TV episodes on the docket. The Far Side Halloween Special is a must, but I've also been revisiting the Chris Carter series Millennium lately. The second season has an awesome Halloween themed ep called The Curse of Frank Black that I just have to watch on that night.
TV, candy, popcorn and beer- my favorite holiday.

How about the Paul Lynde Halloween Special? Maybe not.

HALLOWEEN (the original) THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD (the original) NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (the original) THE HAUNTING (the original) CARRIE DRACULA (of course, the original-as Bobby-B said, we have to have some Lugosi.) BRAINDEAD CAPE FEAR (the original) THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER RE-ANIMATOR FATAL INSTINCT BARTON FINK TORTURE GARDEN THE UNCANNY (have to have at least ONE good-bad-tongue-in-cheek-horror picture.) I want to add BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW. |

This year we inflicted the Paul Lynde Halloween Special on ourselves, and then instantly regretted doing so.
Then we watched The Sixth Sense, which the girl-child had never seen before. She was very taken with it. And it was nice to balance the first DVD with something legitimately good.
Spent most of my free time this weekend trying to get caught up on all the movies I taped off of TCM this past week. Barely put a dent in it...
