Okay, I'm skeptical of anyone who sues over sexual assault in civil court but never files criminal charges. But, the story adds to the whole weirdness that we love about Seagal.

I'm not that skeptical if it's Steven Seagal the one who gets sued. People as different as ex-wife Kelly Lebrock, Jenny McCarthy and Ketherine Heigl have many things to say about the way he treats women. That man is a douchebag.

Oh, I'm not saying Seagal isn't a creep. However, since a civil suit in the US has much more lenient requirements for proving guilt/culpability than a criminal case, gold diggers usually go that route.

Terrahawk makes a good point.
If this woman was assaulted, as she alleges, then why aren't criminal charges being brought? "Manhandled her"? "Forced her to consume 'illegal pills'"? Inflicted "sexual acts"? These are imprisonable offenses. Yet she doesn't want Seagal behind bars, she only wants money? And why is she filing suit in Los Angeles when the alleged assault took place in New Orleans?
Something doesn't sound right about this, unless formal charges from the N.O. District Attorney are forthcoming as well. |

Seagal is also accused of: "sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment."
Needless to say, Seagal is now counter-suing. Apparently the two had signed an agreement to settle their differences through arbitration. Now that Kayden Nguyen has gone public, Seagal is suing for breach of confidentiality.
As always, only the lawyers will win in this case.

In other Seagal news, that oil rig that blew up and sunk apparently had faulty preventers.
quote: BP is now using a set of remote controlled submarines in an attempt to activate the well's "blow out preventer" -- a steel device the size of a small house that sits atop the well and is intended to choke off the flow of oil in the event of a disaster.
It's not clear why that device didn't not originally act to cap the well, or if it will be of any use going forward.
I'm shocked that there is actually something called a preventer on an oil rig. |

Charges against Seagal have been dropped, according to the IMDB:
quote: A sexual harassment lawsuit against Steven Seagal has been dismissed.
Ex-model Kayden Nguyen filed a $1 million (£667,000) lawsuit against the Under Siege actor, accusing him of using her "like a sex toy" and claiming he expected her to pleasure him sexually after she was hired as his assistant.
But Nguyen's lawyers filed documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, asking for the case to be dismissed.
According to TMZ.com, the papers did not specify if the 23 year old had reached a settlement with the star.
