Well, the NFL went from the way past their prime The Who, to the never good Black Eyed Peas. Really, they can't sing. It was a complete disaster. And, having Fergi trying to sing "Sweet Child of Mine" while Slash played guitar was painful. Excuse me while I go back to stopping the blood coming from my ears.

I have to agree with Terrahawk. I was watching the show with my family, and we were playing MST3K long before the idiots were finished with their set. I've picked up a new hobby lately: taking potshots at the Black Eyed Peas. At least the Who had a prime, and they could still rock, even if they weren't up to the level they used to be.
Seriously, "will.i.am"? "Apl.de.ap?" These guys are beggin' for punishment. And here's a clue for up-n-comers: lose the Auto-Tune! I was glad when Slash came on; at least someone with some talent was on the stage.
As for the dancers.... My first reaction -- which holds to this day -- was, "Tron Legacy: The Cheap Version." The I speculated that those guys with the bags over their heads were too embarrassed to let themselves be seen, like Sylvester's son when they're going after the baby kangaroo giant mouthththththth.
After raggin' on these guys, and Kesha, and Lady Googoogaga, and a few others, I was worried I was becoming an old fogey. Thank GOD we have folks like Adele and Florence + the Machine who can actually give us some good stuff. |

I caught Lady Gaga on "Saturday Night Live" last year. She did a couple of her big hits. Then, after "Disco Stick" or whatever it's called, she went over to a piano and belted out a torch song. It was very shocking; it turns out, she has a damn good voice when she feels like actually trying. Sadly, she's going with what sells, which is crappy synth-pop. If she did an album of just her and her piano doing ballads and such, I think I'd buy it.
I also caught Ke$ha on "SNL" last year. She actually managed to lower my opinion of her, which was already very low. Jesus, she sucked.
------------------- I will say I do like what I hear from Florence + The Machine. |
