There's a new Mortal Kombat game coming out soon (it's a reboot) but for Jabootu's purposes, let me point out that there will also be a web series starting Wednesday. It's based on a teaser clip released sometime last year.

Supposedly it's going to take away the supernatural elements from the story and set it before the first tournament. (AKA, the tournament run by Shang Tsung that was the basis for the first movie.) Nine episodes were made. It stars Jeri Ryan as Sony Blade and Michael Jai White as Jax.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this- that pitch video really blew me away when I first saw it.

That's it for the series. I'll leave you with a couple more videos. These come from the story mode of the reboot. It's probably the closest we'll get to a third MK movie. Be warned that they're pretty violent.

I'm enjoying the series quite a bit. I was livid when the first spec video was released, but thankfully the producer/director jettisoned the idiotic idea if MK as a "realistic" crime drama.

I like where the new stuff is going; exploring the characters while remaining faithful to the original concept. (I actually wish the game had been more like this)
