I agree with some of those already put forth (the Jaws series, Ten Things I Hate About the Lost World). All of those "(Number) Things I Hate..." reviews are good. The first ones I read here were Prophecy and The Sea Serpent so I have an affection for them as well. The ones I reread the most are The Beast, Dungeons and Dragons, and The Uninvited. Along with a few Video Cheese selections (Crocodile 2, the issues featuring lake/sea monsters and Killer Hand films) and the Readers' Roundtables. OK, I reread quite a bit of stuff here. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Oh yeah. Long time reader, first time poster, how do you do and all that razzmatazz. Later all!

I'm very fond of the ones which speculate on why the films were made so badly -- The Beast with its Designated Hero, the Jaws series, Candy and Chastity.
I was just thinking about Chastity while watching Blade Runner, specifically Hannah's portrayal of Pris when she meets with the replicant designer. I think she was letter-perfect there; playing up to him, giggling, cute, sad, pathetic -- and when he turned away her face just settles into this cold, unapproachable predator's gaze.
I wonder if Chastity might have worked if the main character had been played more like Pris -- if you could understand why the poor schmucks she meets with are so fascinated by her.
---------- We've always been united in stupidity. That's why there is no hope. But, then again, when has that ever stopped us?

In the Nuggets. In Ken Beg's Halloween Picks. Read his recap of "It's The Great Pumpkin Charley Brown".
In the word's of the late, great, Johnny Carson. . . "I did not know that."

| Color me skeptical, but I think this story of an uncut, gory "Great Pumpkin" story is BS. Can anyone point to screen captures of the original uncut version? |

I'm not so sure it is BS as much as it is a bit of dry humor. Well done, I thought, and I really enjoyed the rest of that Halloween piece so thanks for the heads-up, John Doe.

You're quite welcome.
My take on the review was much the same as yours Mr Potter. Given the sheer volume of mini-recaps in his Halloween picks, I thought it might also be along the lines of, "Let's see if anybody really reads this far into it."
Obviously I have no life.

As my first post here I want to name my favorite Jabootu review: From Hell It Came. I love that cheesy old film and the many groan-inducing puns and jokes centered on the monster's wooden nature made it a great read.

Your review of Boxing Helena. Even funnier than the movie. Its what got me started on Jabootu and still makes me laugh.

Go THE SWARM review! I'm still giggling at the thought of Michael Caine driving around in his bee-van going "I'll show them! I'll show them all!" The only way it could have been better is if you included a quote from ABC's short-lived TGFI sitcom Teen Angel:
God's Cousin Rod: I'm divine! I never make mistakes! Well maybe the Black Plague. And that awful Chevy Chase show. And perhaps Killer Bees.
Teen Angel: YOU invented Killer Bees?
God's Cousin Rod: When I first made them, they weren't called Killer Bees, they were called Fun Flies.......Then they started killing people. |
