| Plus Tom Clancy showed in "Rainbow Six" that ecologists trying to destroy the world while uttering evil laughs were as silly and preposterous as any other kind of super-villains. |

The problem with ecoterrorists is that it's hard to display them as a credible threat because of both their methods and their goals.
An ecoterrorist that is willing to cause destruction on a massive scale will almost invariably come across as a hypocrite who doesn't really believe the views that he's espousing.
As far as the goals as concerned, it'll either fall into two different categories:
1) Why in the name of God would you want to kill anybody over that? 2) You know, he's kinda got a point.
In the first scenario, their motivation actively undermines the character. In the latter case, you have to wonder why somebody is going out of their way to stop them.
Really, about the only ecoterrorist that I can think of that didn't come across as a joke was R'as Al Gul from Batman: The Animated Series.
BM: I should have mentioned this at the beginning. I solve my problems with violence. |

| True. Everytime people say they would like to see ecologists as villains I remember Stromberg from "The spy who loved me", and how silly the scene where he details his plans is. Of course, since the appeal of TSWLM came mostly from its intentional camp it didn't do much damage. |

I believe there are several films in which an environmentalist nutcase is the villain. Poison Ivy in Batman and Robin comes to mind.
Raj Al-Ghul in the Batman cartoons and comic books is kind of an ecology-minded villan. |

| And don't forget Seagal's flirtation with ecoterrorism in On Deadly Ground. |

(Now speaking through a wooden head and expecting the H.P. Lovecraft heirs won't sue him)
No real harm was done, Flangepart, my brain is not of much use these days. Anyway, if the brain machines from "Total Recall" or "The eternal sunshine of spotless mind" existed, the only use I would find for them would be to erase any memory of watching that darn movie. |

While I agree with your overall point, I must object to the inclusion of The Life of David Gale on your list. Having actually suffered throughwatched this movie, I can assure you that, while it did everything in it's power to fool people into believing that it was a preachy movie with a Deep Important Message, it was really a notably sick exploitation flick from beginning to end. |

Come to think of it, I could say the same about Beyond Borders. |

Oh, you can't ignore Moonraker! It contains possibly the lamest Bond pun in history:
Drax: "You are not a sportsman, Mr. Bond - why did you break off the encounter with my pet python?" Bond: "I discovered he had a crush on me."
Whaa whaa whaaaaaaa! |

Sorry, but I consider that to be up with Tom Lehrer, S J Perelman and Grouch Marx at their best when compared with most of the dialogue from Die Another Day
"Oh James, can't you leave it in a bit longer"
You see what they did there? They were talking about a diamond in Hailie Berry's belly button but you thought they were talking about.....
oh never mind

Lame indeed! Danger Mouse could do better...if fact, he does!
