Apparently in Hollywood, there are really only two races - Ethnic and Non-ethnic. "Ethnic" is interchangeable - we could have Ponch being Inuit if there was an actor available. |

Hey! An inuit Ponch, sounds good. i wonder what the plot of this flick will be, and who will play John? Not that I care, I just wonder.

I'm confused now, I thought successful shows ran for more than one season.

They do, but think of it this way. Most everyone (at least, most everyone on this board) has heard of My Mother The Car, even if we've never seen an episode. Largely, this is due to late-night talk-show ribbing, but still, the show has managed to live on in the popular hive-mind. Not a whole lot more is required before Hollywood says, "Hmmm" and decides it might make some money on the big screen. |

You know what's funny about casting Fez as Ponch in the CHiPs remake? He played Ponch in a MAD TV skit a few years back. I'm sure that was enough to ignite the light bulb hovering oh so far from an executive's cranium. :D

Well, if they want to do a remake of a tv show featuring talking transportation, I would humblely suggest that "Mr Ed" better fits the description of successful TV than "My Mother The Car".

Looks like My Mother the Car did indeed run for one full season of 30 episodes.
Back in those days, they had a much slower hook when it came to cancelling shows than they do now (compare to nowadays, where networks actually announce their "mid-season replacement" shows along with the new shows, on the assumption that *something* is gonna be cancelled quickly), so you could hardly call that a "success." |

(Sickly)...there are actual ephs. of MY MOTHER THE CAR?....
Yep...one word....
DOOM!
I still contend, that the reason i did NOT know they existed, was a form of self preservation...
