I don't know. Neither of these were really that good (at least looking back from the last few years) i couldn't even get through the first 30 minutes of Barbraella, and did anyone other then Arnold see Red Sonya?
If they try to make a better story, and be more faithful to the source, though I'm not sure how possible that is in the first case, both remakes might be an improvement. |

Yeah, that was my thinking. I know Barberella has its following as a camp classic but really even if they somehow manage to make both even worse who's really going to care?? Other than it being a general waste of time and money that could have gone into something worthwhile of course.

I may be the only person in my circle of friends that actually likes Red Sonja. Not that it is great, not at all, but I found it a huge improvement over its predecesor, Conan The Destroyer, and still better than modern sword and sorcery films, like Kull the conqueror.
As for Barbarella, the whole thing is, to my standards, unwatchable. I could only finish the film once, and it was because of Jane Fonda, who was mighty sexy back then. |

| Ther've been a whole series of BATMAN films, of course, some lots of fun, some lousy. Instead of re-making RED SONJA, why not BATGIRL? |

My guess is that NuImage are too cheap to pay rights for the BatGirl character. Their resume is chock full of people vs. CGI creature films, my guess is that they didn't spend much money on them.
Of course, if they had any artistic ambition they'd hire talented people and make decent copycats (as opposed to the ones Asylum makes). It worked for Sam Rainmi, his Darkman was supposed to be a legit adaptation of The Shadow. When he couldn't afford the rights he just rewrote the film a little more. |

I liked RS as a kid. As I got older I liked it less. Although when I saw it as a kid, that ridiculous beheading and the topless dancer were cut out, so I probably like it a little more than I did years ago. Still, it's pretty crap, although for some reason I like the comic relief guy in it. And I love the "killing machine."
Anyone ever reenact it with He-Man figures? I even had that big character-carrying monster skeleton that I used for the bridge scene.
--------------- I have so many issues. |

You do realise...you said 'Beheading' and 'Topless' in the same sentance...
