I had a thought today, an interesting idea of a game that can be played at a sci-fi convention. You would get a group a panelists together and they would each draw the title of a movie from a hat then try to defend the movie.
The catch is that all of the movies are the worst around, and they are trying to keep their movie from being considered the worst of the lot.
Now I just need a list of really bad movies.
There are some rules of course.
* No gimmies. We can't stick anything by Ed Woods or Uwe Boll, it would just be too easy.
* Nothing that's Direct to Video. We want people to see the film, TV or cable movies would be in the same boat.
* No sequels, it's easy to make a really bad follow up to a good film.
* It should have at least one major star embarrassing themselves as well, just because.
* Nothing universally considered bad. It's more entertaining if some people actual like the films were listing.
My starter list:
Battlefield Earth - Failed in just about every way, yet I have at least one friend who loved the thing.
The Day After Tomorrow - The the cast is in the idiot ball pit... oh, and the cold is EVIL.
Tristar Godzilla - To much of an gimmy?
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) - Probably not jumping the gun on this one.
So, any other suggestions? |

What about Armageddon? It's easily the worst movie Michael Bay ever did, and it has Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck.
And Catwoman. It put to embarasment both Halle Berry and Sharon Stone. |

off the top of my head:
Basic Instinct 2 (it's a sequel, but many years later) The Village Wicker Man (remake) Stealth Rollerball (remake)

Does anyone like the Tristar Godzilla movie? I've yet to meet anyone who did...meh, I suppose there were some kids out there that did. I'd allow it.
I would add to the list...
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake) Scary Movie I Know What You Did Last Summer King Kong (Peter Jackson version) Kids (although I don't recall anyone famous, at the time at least, being in it)
I want to add Titanic but I think it'd be too easy to defend.
-------------------- Could be a fun panel... |

I liked the TriStar Godzilla. I thought the lead female character was suicide-inducingly annoying, and the MSG sequence was both a rip off of Jurassic Park and unnecessary, but the scenes with Godzilla were well done. I think it's a solid 2.5 star movie. |

You stay the hell away from me. ;)
I thought just about every character was suicide-inducingly annoying. Patillo's character was just the one that actually made me wonder if I could sharpen my straw enough to slit my wrists with. Totally with you on the MSG sequence. I'm sure I could run off for a long time on the issues I had with it, but I don't want to hijack the thread. Maybe I'll do a review for the board in the future...

I'm sure Tim Allen could be of assistance here.
