I'd never heard of the man, but given his work, Its good you passed it on.

Good grief! Not only did he direct all of the original Peanuts cartoons (including all four feature films), he also provided the voice of Snoopy and Woodstock.

If Woodstock were here now, I know just what he'd say:

This is sad. He was a very very talented guy. I remember seeing an interview with him and he came off as really charming and well spoken. It's hard to imagine how Peanuts would have crossed the gap successfully to animation without him. Watch the Beethoven dream sequence in A Boy Named Charlie Brown again if you haven't watched it recently- it's unspeakably beautiful.
