Sadly, HoMH has zoomed all the way up to a 3%, based on one positive review from the Toronto Star, against 29 down-thrust thumbs. The positive review is a veritable rave, granting the flick a whopping two and a half stars. The glowing tone of the piece may be ascertained from scanning the review title: "Surprisingly not bad for teen horror." I must say, the assertion that the film's lead performance is "evocative of Mia Farrow's turn in Rosemary's Baby" (!!!) is not entirely credible.
PEGGY: I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court? HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

I sometimes wonder, when I see one good review adrift in a sea of outright critic hostility, whether the reviewer is just high - or are they getting paid. Or both.

Am I the only one who finds this comment less than a ringing endorsement? If I made a movie and this review was the best one it got, I wouldn't dance a jig.
You know Grand Funk, don't you? The wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The ... adequate drumwork of Don Brewer? |

"evocative of Mia Farrow's turn in Rosemary's Baby"
Having seen HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY let me just add "WTF?!?!" I'd say it was more evocative of Pamela Sue Martin in a bad 1970's made-for-TV horror movie. It's so bad it almost becomes entertaining at times, thanks in great part to the director going overboard. This is a movie that features a cheap attempt at a jump scare in which the mailman putting mail through the front door mail slot resulted in what sounded like a gunshot that made Molly jump out of her shoes.
Just reviewed it as one of six Halloween-themed films as part of my new Foyeurism. Link in my signature.

This thread was the first time I'd ever heard of this movie, and I thought it a VERY odd choice for a topic on this web site.
Once I realized I was confusing Molly Hartley with Nina Hartley, it all made sense. I need a vacation.
