Number eleven and still counting. Appears that there is a new a "Friday the 13th" coming out in Feb 2009. According to IMDB the plot is like this: "A group of young adults discover a boarded up Camp Crystal Lake, where they soon encounter Jason Voorhees (Mears) and his deadly intentions."
Looks like its a sequel more than a remake. As if we really need another Friday the 13th movie!!

| Well, the Saw movies are not exactly better. If people end up watching that, there's room for more Friday the 13th and Halloween sequels. |

From what I've read of the new Ft13th (and seen from the trailer), it's a remake/retelling of the original rather than a new movie per se. Interestingly, the Jason in it moves around quite swiftly--no lumbering juggernaut in this one.
I haven't seen the original Toolbox Murders, although did catch the remake; but from what I have heard, the remake probably can't help but be superior. (Angela Bettis in the lead alone pretty much guarantees it--I'm betting the original didn't have anyone who could act worth a damn.)
------------------- Most of the ones I'd have picked were already mentioned, blast it. |

Our monsters seem to have picked up speed as an "asset". Witness the zombie genre.

To be fair, Jason actually ran in parts 2,3 and 4. It wasn't until part 6, after being reanimated, when he became the lumbering juggarnaut, known to fans as "Zombie Jason".
The filmmakers have stating that they're trying to combine elements of the first three "Friday the 13th" for the remake. |

Not that you specifically said this, so I ask this as a general question, but why did the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake create such a stir with it's "fast zombies" when my beloved "Return of the Living Dead" had them sprinting around in 1985? |
