Between the holidays and hanging out with friends & family MUCH more than I usually do, I have had little time to do any writing. I am hoping to get something up this weekend, but we'll see. I know Saturday is a total wipe, as I'll be attending Handel's Messiah at the Chicago Symphany Orchestra in the afternoon and then probably seeing a movie that night. Then I'm supposed to go to my brother's on Sunday to see the Bears game, but maybe I'll cancel that. Stupid limited 24 hours a day.
Since deadlines seem to work well for me, I'm currently compiling a list of potential review subjects for next year. Since our bandwith hosting contract is up, I may tie in monthly site sponsorship with the option of letting the sponsor choose a movie off the list to be reviewed during their month. If that pathetic attempt to grovel for $$ doesn't work, maybe I'll just throw things up for a vote.
I'd like to get ahead on some stuff, but with the holidays coming (and B-Fest popping up on the horizon), we'll have to see. However, I am pretty much committed to posting much more regularly next year than I've managed to in 2005.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who's stuck around during this fallow period.

| Don't mean to be crass Ken, but what is the cost for a month's bandwith? Just in case I was thinking about throwing a little $ your way. |

I have to check with Paul, but if I remember right it was roughly $30-40. If I could get a good hunk of that covered, say $25-30, I'd be more than satisfied. I'll be seeing Paul tomorrow night and will tighten those numbers up.
I'm still musing on this, but the general idea is that a sponsorship would get you credit in the Tip Jar Box for the month, the chance to pick a film off the list I mentioned above to be reviewed that month, and maybe a "this review brought you by _____" credit for anything posted that month.
I don't want to whore the site up, but then, it's not like I can offer anybody much of anything concrete for their (theoretical) donation, so I do want to give some sort of...well, 'value' doesn't seem the right word, but something along those lines.

Can I suggest having a look at www.getmehosted.com for a host? I use them and have had a pretty good experience for the $80 per year plan.
Anyway, have a look. If anyone sees something greviously wrong with their plans, please post it here because I'd love to know as well.

Ken, I use www.superbhosting.net and I have no problems with downtime or bandwidth. I get 1Gb of serverspace and 50Gb of bandwidth per month for $6.50 a month.
If we send you a dvd/tape with a couple $20s taped to it, will that work? I have some doozies that need to be reviewed.

Here's my preliminary list:
The Adventurers Amityville 3-D The Betsy Billy Jack Goes to Washington Boom! Cobra Color of Night Gable & Lombard Hurry Sundown The Jazz Singer Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park The Klansman (aka Burning Cross) Lipstick Mac & Me Monster Dog Navy vs. the Night Monster A Night in Heaven Osterman Weekend Over the Top Rocky IV Sandpiper The Stablizer The Star Under the Cherry Moon Viva Knievel Year of the Gun Zabriskie Point
I won't get to all of those next year, and some of them I haven't seen, so I can't guarantee how long a review I'd get out of them. Some of them, certainly, would require a pretty large piece.
I'm sure I'll be adding some titles to that, but that's my starting point. And thanks for the hosting suggestions; I'll run them by Paul.

Hey Ken, you know I'm always a sucker for Billy Jack. By the way, no need to apologize for having other things to do. My whole Novenber was taken up with NaNoWriMo. Now, I'm doing the revision with a mid-January publication deadline. Oy! (details at my blog).

Oh, man, Kiss Meets Phantom, Rocky IV, Color of Night, and Cobra (the ORIGINAL Fair Game). I may have to hold on to my moolah, since I wouldn't be able to pick between those. Add The Omega Code or Beyond Borders to that mix, and my head may explode.
By the way, have you ever read the book The Osterman Weekend? There are a lot of problems with it, but it's a lot better than the movie. |

Jumping in with those touting hosts, I very highly recommend http://www.wwm.net. Loads of features, very reasonable prices, and jaw-droppingly exceptional customer service. Having been through about half a dozen hosts in the course of the Media Empire's history, I can honestly say that I'm never leaving these guys unless they leave me first.
