Man, for a guy on vacation you sure are providing a lot of material on your blog. Thanks Ken. Sorry to read about your bout with bronchitis. Get well soon.

| I echo the sentiments of everyone else--take the time you need, and when you come back writing will be fun (or at least less awful). |

Well, I'm just trying to get back from my own unintentional sabbatical. Ken, you've always been marvelous about keeping me posted on B-fests even though I haven't gotten to one yet. Bah! Just so you know, my e-mail has changed, my new one is updated on this Board. Oh, and I've moved to Iowa, so a drive to Chicago ought to be easier.
On the downside, there's some pretty major family health issues going on right now so all of my free time has been home to see my parents. Stuff we thought Dad had caught in time and had a good prognosis for has caught a horrid toe-hold and now we're just kind of taking it day by day. And of course, his prognosis tanked exactly two weeks after I moved, so the 5-hour driving distance has been, well, quite sucky. Bah!
My point is (and there is one besides just my early-mornings-Lord-I-need-more-caffeine incoherent ramblings), if you needed a rest, I'm glad you're taking it. I've been reading your reviews for years, and holy crap, some of it is just the most drop-to-the-floor funny stuff I ever read, not to mention just downright fun and insightful. Reading your writing is a true joy, so do whatever you have to do to keep the joy in your work. It's well worth any needed wait.
I came, I saw, I was really too tired to deal with it so I just went to bed. |

Enjoy your break and re-charge your batteries. We will indeed still be here when you get back. For your minions are many and we are loyal! ;D
I'm hoping maybe in '07 I can finally make it to a B-Fest. Thank you for all the great entertainment you've given us. I shall now, in honor of Jabootu, go and re-read the long version of your Swarm review. (Which is vastly more entertaining than the film itself - I saw it once and my friends found me the next morning in the fetal position, a box of Junior Mints still clutched in my hand...)

Hmmmmm. The sabbatical may be coming to an end soon. Okay, two months from now, but when has that ever stopped department stores from putting the Christmas trees up in early November?
So, Ken, would you like to give us a hint on what your comeback review will be? Something to tantalize us? Or are you gonna keep us in the dark and lord it over us? (That's what I'd do.) |
