| You know, at the speed that Uwe Boll is making movies and the absolute certainty that the movies will be utter crap, sooner or later there will be enough movies to do a Uwe Boll Roundtable. I just watched the trailer for the new Dungeon Siege movie(with the wonderful name of "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale), and it's packed full of hilarity. |

By the time "Postal" comes out in 2007 there will certainly be enough. As it is, thanks to his contributions there's more than enough already to do a "godawful video game adaptation" roundtable.
Out of curiosity to see what he'd been up to, I looked Boll up on IMDB, and was a little surprised that even his German work is generally poorly regarded. I'm used to foreign directors not sucking until after they come to Hollywood.
And by the way, the farmer-hero of the Dungeon Siege movie is actually named "Farmer?" Not his surname mind you, but his given name. |

I'm reminded of how until the French film theorists came in, this generally was the attitude toward Alfred Hitchcock! I think this attitude is helped by snobbery (it's foreign, so it must be great!) and the fact that critical praised arthouse hits of a foreign director may not be respresentative of his output and he may have just got lucky this time. |

I would expect that his output will slow down after this January though as the tax loophole that people exploit by giving him money will be closed.
Of course, he may go out and license as many products as possible first.

Admittedly, it might be the pressure my sinuses are placing on my brain, but I don't really get the hatred for Boll.
OK, I was unfortunate enough to pay to see Shack of the Dead. ANd I hated it. It was so bad, it was good (I kept laughing) until I thought about it some more and it wrapped back to hate. I plan on buying it, because everyone must see it once.
But then I saw Alone in the Dark. I'm not familiar with the game, but I thought the movie was OK. Now, much like a comment Ken made about loving monster movies, so he grades on a curve, I love scifi/horror, so I'm a bit more forgiving. I felt it was about average for the genre (more the pity) but was many, many times better than HotD.
By my theory, the third film should be an improvement as he actually learns the trade.
Now, if this one's as bad as HotD, then I have to concede. But it hardly seems fair to hate the guy so much on only two films.
