Irony is a monument to a human-killed dog in the Darwin Museum. Hey, ever heard of "survival of the fittest"?

Now they need to make a movie where soldiers in Iraq actually find one of Saddam Hussein's secret underground chemical weapons facilities only to find it overrrun with big mutant sand spiders. And the the film will be called IRAQNID!

Not to get too offtopic (well, hard not to when the topic is canicidal models) but "Survival of the fitest" was not coined by Darwin. In fact, the phrase didn't appear until the 5th edition of his book, and even then only as a nod to the guy who had applied the phrase to Darwin in the first place.
Darwin's natural selection better boils down to "popularity of the most prolific" which doesn't make for a good slogan.

So, basically, rabbits are going to take over the world? |

When I was in college, I dated a guy who wrote a short story something to the effect of a gant war between rabbits and squirrels. If I remember right, in it squirrels were basically evil little bastards who spent their days counting ankles so they'd know how many humans to take out in the end.
For a split second upon reading the thread title, I thought he'd managed to sell the story to Sci Fi channel. Which wouldn't have surprised me.
I came, I saw, I was really too tired to deal with it so I just went to bed. |

I am reminded of an RPG campaign I play in (Living Greyhawk, sponsored by the RPGA). There is a forest that has been taken over by other worldly creatures called 'Fades' that have posessed all of the native animal life.
Among them squirrels.
With glowing red eyes and dripping fangs.
I've faced Giants and dragons and beasties of all descriptions, and nothing scared me like facing a pack of those little critters....
MikeC, Squirrels. Why'd it have to be squirrels? |

Hah! That reminds me of the time the Untouchable trio + one got their butts handed to them by a squirrel! The sight of El Ravager screaming 'Get it off! Get it off!" still makes me smile.
