Don't. I enjoyed Scooby-Do on Zombie Island. Definitely worth a rental, if you're so inclined.

That one gave me one of my favorite lines of all time.

Anyone remember an old Japanese (I think) battle robot cartoon, with a pink female robot that shot missiles from it's breasts and constantly had to be saved by male robots? Even at fours years old, this completely mystified me. I mean, it's a friggin' robot. Why would it be any weaker than any other battle bot?

Ah yes, I'm pretty sure that would be Transor-Z.

I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking, this is new: a cartoon which actually says that people can, you know, get killed in these giant-robot fights. Before long, I was put off by the amount of killing. This is an escapist cartoon, and I distinctly remember seeing a robot take down an ocean liner, and we saw several people, including children, drowning.

Oh, I was also put off by the bad animation and awful voice acting.

Can I add Squidbillies to that mix? When did being able to actually draw become a detriment to making a cartoon? Seriously, these shows look like they were drawn by monkeys with pencils stuck in their rectums.

You know Grand Funk, don't you? The wild, shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner? The bong-rattling bass of Mel Schacher? The ... adequate drumwork of Don Brewer?

Japanese 'Kid shows' have no respect for human life. Why? Is their that history that bloody and cruel? I can't help but wonder...

Maybe that cartoon wasn't intended for kids. Can't speak for American media, but during the 80 - 90s Spanish TV channels still assumed that all animated series were children-friendly and were shocked when parents started complaining because they were showing stuff like Dragon Ball in children's schedule.

Dragon Ball may pale in front of other anime products, but it has characters dying (sometimes even major characters) violently, as well as occasional blood, dismemberments and sexual innuendo.

Even as recently as in the 2000s there were more parents complaining because of Schin-chan, a seriesfeaturing a sex-obssesed pre-teen. They were probably overeacting, but then again a major TV channel was marketing a series for kids when it probably was intended for an older audience.

That reminds me of whenever I'd wander into a Blockbuster Video around here and I'd see Watership Down or The Plague Dogs sitting in the kiddie section.

Zombie, forget the bunny rabbits. "This will help you fall asleep. It's got cute little doggies." (And a guy getting shot in the head with a shotgun! Pleasant dreams!)
