The Sarah Connor Chronicles

It's The Terminator... without the Terminator or even Linda Hamilton! G-r-e-a-t.
Placing bets on how long it'll be before the producers cave and write a non-Arnie Terminator into the script just to boost ratings. Also placing bets as to how long before Linda Hamilton will guest star as another character in the hopes of raising the show's profile.

You know, when they started talking about a Terminator IV without Arnie, I actually though it was a good idea. The ending of the third movie left me hungry for more, and the Dark Horse comics are enough evidence that there are still interesting stories to tell about that universe and that Arnold is not that essential.
But now that I am reading about how bad this series is, I'm afraid. They've proved they can screw with the franchise and get away with it. Now I'm scared. |

| As far as I'm concerned the franchise was already screwed over with the unnecessary third film- it basically should never have become a franchise (Or does it automatically become a franchise with a second entry). Two movies were enough, the only point of the stale third entry was probably a failed attempt on the part of Arnie to save his flagging career. I'm sure any more sequels and the TV will suck, although the series sound like it has slightly more potential. From what I can recall of the series when I looked it up there was always going to be a non-Arnie Terminator in there somewhere. |

Just to revive this thread since we're on the verge of the series premier. Anyone have any thoughts?
Mine are simply that it's looking like a continuation of the Buffy/Bionic Woman/any other recent show/movie where we have the super powerful woman saving humanity. It seems to me that that vein has been played out. Now maybe if it featured Pip who every male on the board properly fears the show might have a chance.

I happenned to watch the pilot and it actually looks decent. It doesn't hide it's a bastard child of the film series and the action / violence is toned down, but the plot is alright and so is the cast. We'll see what the future has to offer.
@Terrahawk: Sorry to point this out, but there seems to be something wrong with your signature: no matter how many times I press "2" nothing happens. Is it because I'm using a laptop keyboard? xD |

No, you need to speak into your keyboard and it will automatically enter 2 for you. ;-)

Saw the pilot tonight, and it wasn't great, but it may turn out to be a decent series. We'll see. Personally, I thought it was a good idea to have the good-guy terminator be a 16-year-old girl, a nice switch from the Ah-nold model.
Really wish they could've gotten S. Epatha Merkerson back to play Dyson's widow. Even if they didn't have Linda Hamilton as Sarah, it'd be a nice bit of continuity. Anyway, here's hoping the show will pick up and not crash and burn. |

| If it does pick up, wonder how they will explain the apparent aging of the good terminator? |

From what I saw of the first episode (I had it on, but was doing other stuff too, so I really just got snippets of it), it looked to have good production values, and the actors all seemed to be up to the task. It looks like the kind of thing that I won't be tuning into each week, but if word-of-mouth says it's worthwhile, I may just check it out when (or if)it comes out on DVD.
One problem I see though is this: Is every episode going to have an Unstoppable-Killing-Machine-From-The-Future WHO CAN'T HIT HIS TARGET (at least not effectively)?

Missed the pilot episode, but caught the third episode. Didn't seem to bad. Will have to catch a couple of more episodes before making a final decision.
