Well... to be honest there's really nothing there to form an opinion on. So, I will remain cautiously optimistic. The use of the old school transporter sound gave me some little chills though. Interesting that they used Nimoy to deliver Kirk's iconic lines. Seeing as Shatner wasn't asked to cameo in the film, a resounding smack-down, I'd say.

I think at this point in his life Shatner is beyond caring.
Think Sean Connery cares what they do with Bond now?

| Besides, I'm sick of gag cameos in remakes anyway. Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes, Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis in The Brady Bunch Movie, etc. What's the point, other than a elbow jab to the ribs: "Get it? They were in the original. Get it?!" |

Yeah, but this is a little different. They did ask Nimoy, and he is playing his original character, not just pooping in as some different character. These cameos have continuity. And if Nimoy is in, you know Shatner is just burning up *g*

I wasn't aware they asked Nimoy to play Spock. How's that gonna work?
Nimoy, alone in his moldering Vulcan estate, whispers the word "T'Pau" then dies and drops the snowglobe which shatters. CUE FLASHBACK. |

What I heard was that Shatner is ticked they didn't offer him some sort of role. That's a little surprising considering he seems a lot easier to work with now than in the past. Plus, let's face it, Shatner is about the only one from TOS to actually have a career on camera. The others are busy appearing in fan made Star Trek shows. Oh the vagaries of Hollywood.

Well, I certainly can do without Shatner this time. Terrahawk is right in that he is the only Trek actor to actually have a career these days, but he already had his moment of glory with his special appearence in Generations.
Time for him to take a step aside and let Nimoy have his chance to be adored. |

Yikes- with moments of glory like that who needs ignominy?? That was the most pathetic hero death in movies practically.

And that was the improved hero death scene after the previous one tested poorly. Abrhams basically said that he couldn't work Shatner in since Kirk died in Generations.

That wasn't his fault though. It was those douche bags Brannon Braga and Rick Berman... *g* Spock was written into Generations originally btw. Nimoy turned it down.

| Shatner is having so much fun and making so much money on Boston Legal that I cannot imagine he cares very much one way or the other about Star trek. |
