Jeez Louise, how could I forget this one?

I agree with lots of these here.
A few for me:
The Shootist The Duke's smile at the end reminds me a great deal of my late father.
Saving Private Ryan "Earn this"
Superman:The Animated Series "Good-bye,my friend.In the end,Earth didn't need a Superman.Just a brave one."
In ST:II,I start tearing up when Spock straightens his tunic before facing Kirk. It's just so.......him.
This final mission will decide the fate of the human race. This is Operation:Final War |

The part of ST II that always rips me apart is the moment where we see that Shatner can indeed turn in a good performance, when he keeps it all in:
"Of all the souls I have met in my travels, his was the most...." long pause, then he croaks out, "...human."
Why does the ending of Unforgiven get me? After all the violence and mayhem, we see Will standing over his wife's grave, we see the epilogue on screen, then Will fades away and the guitar theme (by Eastwood himself) continues over the credits. Tear in the eye, and a chill down the spine.
The closing credits of Lorenzo's Oil. Several years ago, I worked in a TV station, and Lorenzo was the Saturday movie. Our tech director let us know we wouldn't do a teaser during the credits, and I knew the testimonials would play. Most everyone in the room had never seen the movie, and they all got quiet when seeing kid after kid tell his story.
While we're at it, Nick Nolte sliding down the stairs while losing it (after reading the graphic details of his son's illness) crushes me down every damn time. |

| Speaking of Star Trek, I always sigh at that scene from the third movie, when we see all the regulars on a cliff, watching the Enterprise crash and burn through the atmosphere of Genesis. It's a pity Leonard Nimoy didn't make the scene a bit longer. |

I cried when Kat died in All Quiet on the Western Front. All the other deaths and maimings were horrible and all that but I didn't get kicked in the emotional gut until the old veteran bought it at the end.

Got that right. The big E was as much a character as the people who made up her heart.

One sequence that affects me more on repeat viewings (rather than when I first saw it) is that moment in Black Hawk Down when those two guys volunteer to protect the wounded pilot whose chopper had crashed. They knew the odds were way against them, but they weren't leaving their friend behind.
That moment gets me every time now, even while I'm writing this. |
