Whoa... this movie is a remake?
When I first heard of this, I thought it was the inevitable sequel. Not so. Eric Bana is bye-bye, Ed Norton is the new Bruce Banner, and from what I can glean (those who've seen the new picture can either verify or deny) they redo the entire Hulk origin story over again.
If so, would this be the fastest any movie has ever gotten remade? |

Probably not given the quick turnaround on the Americanized remakes of international horror movies. [REC] is a European horror movie that only came out last year and the US version is already in the can and set to open in October under the title QUARANTINE.

The original [REC] was lots of fun, it deserved to become the smash hit it has, well, become. Also heard the authors are planning a sequel.
As for this Hulk sequel / remake / whatever, I guess it'll turn to be OK, but a dumbed down, action packed, no nonsense version of Ang Lee's film. The first press reports were histerical, you could see the director and producers juggling with words in order not to admit they hated the Ang Lee version.
Bunch of cowards. At least they could have admitted that. Instead they wanted us to believe they brought in the director of Transporter because of his vision. Yeah, right. |

| What was REC? Found it on the IMDB but didn't want to read the spoilers. |

| It's a horror movie by Spanish directors Paco Plaza (The second name, Romasanta) and Jaume Balagueró (Darkness). It's about a TV reporter who works embedded with a firemen unit for a night, and she gets trapped with them inside a building where some kind of infection runs amok. It's shot in a TV - newsreel style, using just one camera. |

BTW, just saw the second Hulk movie. I'm missing the slow pace and beautiful imagery of Ang Lee's version, but it's an OK film on its own terms. They even used the whole "fugitive on the run" scenario, like in the TV series starring Bixby / Ferrigno.

| I think so, yeah, but it wasn't a remake, just two similar projects that ended competing each other on theatres, like Dante's Peak and Volcano. Only that they were a bit better. |

| Several years ago a Movie called Honeymoon in Vegas was met by anther called Indecent Proposal. They were essentially the same movie and came out at the same time. |

It is tough to make a pair of worse movies than Dante's Peak and Volcano.

Deep Impact and Armageddon?

I saw REC recently, and absolutely LOVED it. However, DON'T watch the trailer for the remake, as it appears to be a shot for shot remake, and gives away pretty much EVERYTHING with one scene. I highly recommend the original though. |

| Glad to hear that, BT. It's a small movie compared to American ones, but very witty. Loved the whole "documentary vs straight horror movie" game the directors seemed to be playing between themselves, and it's also very scary at certain stages. |

| BT, how'd you see it? I checked IMDB and it doesn't appear to be on DVD in the U.S. |

Neville, I thought there were a couple of "Holy crap" moments, and I also thought the ending was genuinely creepy, which doesn't happen to me much anymore.
Zombie, I got the movie from a friend of mine on one of my Cub fan messageboards (as I am sure Ken will be happy to hear). He must have burned it off the internet somewhere. |

| Presumably we'll get a DVD release of the original in the US after the Hollywood remake hits theaters (as was the case with Ringu/The Ring). |
