Actually, guys, it was a boat.
The passengers would sit below the waterline. The Nautali used regular propulsion. They had started with Natural Gas engines for environmental reasons. But had to switch over to diesels engines because the former kept breaking down. Propellers thrust the submarines forward. The tracks were used to steer the boats for the sake of efficient navigation. Not a bad idea.
