Other than the obvious candidates, like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, which has already been satirized, what holiday movie or TV special do you think would be most worthy of the Tom and Crow treatment?

Thinking... boy, there's gotta be a lot of lame-oh candidates out there, right?

I gotta give a shout out to Jingle all the Way.

That movie was lame.

Christmas was almost an after thought in that movie. It even seemed to celebrate the materialism of the season.

It also featured the kind of humor that can be painful if not done right. Like a police officier opening a package with a bomb in it and it explodes right in to his face. The bomb blows up with such a force that you can see and hear the result outside(Who knew that Christmas and terrorism could mix in a family comedy?). The only result is having some black soot on his body. Otherwise, he's none the worse for wear(he must have been a marine). Other things like using a toy badge to sneak past cops. Schwarzenegger vs. a Reindeer(nuff said). A bizzare development were Arnold's character is wearing a jet pack and literally flys around the city.

[sarcasm]Yeah, I beleived that. Definately no CGI involved to do that stunt. I'm sure of it. [/sarcasm]

It also might have given Schwarzenegger his first inkling that his stock was falling in Hollywood.

From what I hear, Deck the Halls is this year's Christmas with the Kranks. I haven't seen either of these, and don't plan to, but can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions that both are pieces of reindeer doodoo?

You bet - I own a copy and it's as bad as they say. For a decent review, see: http://www.agonybooth.com/santa_bunny/

My friends, I think we have a winner. Everybody, check out hbrennan's link, if you haven't already. Those of you pining for another Jabootu-style review may find this to your liking.

Now I REALLY wish Best Brains would get back together again... if only to riff this one movie.

This film may be a bit hard to find. If anyone needs a DVD copy to do a review, let me know (henrybrennan@hotmail.com) and I'll secure you one. Oddly enough, my granddaughter (she's 8 year old, now) loves to watch 3 films with me, at Christmas time - this one, the "Star Wars Holiday Special" and, her favorite "Santa Claus"( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053241/ ). I couldn't ask for anything better than that. God bless you, Kirsten.

They should have done "It's A Wonderful Life" or at least the poor Marlow Thomas remake.

Thanks to MST3K I will never watch "Wonderful Life" again without saying "Noooo springs! (Whistle)" as George is running around Pottersville.

I thisk that MST300 did Santa Calus conquors the Martians but my choice would be Christmas with the Kranks as well. The drab marlo Thomas remake of Wonderful Life is worthy fodder but there are so many movies about crabby people learning the true meaning of Christmas that I lack the space to list them. The Hallmark or Lifetime tv cable channels are a goldmine for this kind of junk.
